A big thank you to all of you that have submitted thus far, it is shaping up to be quite an exciting programme. Due to unforeseen circumstances we regret to inform you that Stephane Mallat has had to withdraw as one of our keynote speakers. However we are delighted to announce that Manik Varma will be replacing him.

Within the scope of this project at the Medical Image Analysis Center (MIAC), University of Basel, we are developing novel image registration methods allowing to spatially align lung MR imaging data acquired using our in-house MR imaging sequence. Significant progress in medical image registration has been made in the last two decades. Many approaches have been proposed registering 2D and 3D images even when the two images are from different imaging modalities. Much of this progress is thanks to improved interpolation schemes and similarity measures such as mutual information.
