The Machine Learning for Document Access and Translation group of the Xerox Research Centre Europe conducts research in Statistical Machine Translation and Information Retrieval, Categorization and Clustering using advanced machine learning methods.
We are opening a position for a researcher with a background in Statistical Machine Translation to support our participation in the EU-funded project TransLectures (www.translectures.eu). Our main focus in the project is in domain adaptation and incremental techniques for video-lectures translation.
Required experience and qualifications:
The research group KU Leuven ESAT-STADIUS is currently offering 2 Postdoc positions (1-year, extendable) within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant A-DATADRIVE-B http://www.esat.kuleuven.be/stadius/ADB

Learning in Non-(geo)metric Spaces
Traditional machine learning and pattern recognition techniques are intimately linked to the notion of "feature space." Adopting this view, each object is described in terms of a vector of numerical attributes and is therefore mapped to a point in a Euclidean
(geometric) vector space so that the distances between the points reflect the observed (dis)similarities between the respective objects.
Application deadline Sept 30, 2013, 3:00 p.m. EEST
Topics include: Algorithms, Bioinformatics, Human-Computer Interaction, Information retrieval, Logic, Machine Learning, Networks, Statistical Data Analysis, etc. http://www.hiit.fi/postdoc-call-2013

The European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECML-PKDD) will take place in Prague from September 23th to 27th, 2013.
ECML-PKDD is the prime European scientific event in machine learning and data mining. It will feature presentations of contributed papers and invited speakers, a wide program of workshops and tutorials on the first and last days, a discovery challenge, an industrial track, and tracks with demo and 'nectar' talks. Next to the traditional awards, it will also have, for the first time, an open science award.

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position at UCL.
In many real-world applications, machine learning algorithms are employed as a tool in a "constructive process". These processes are similar to the general knowledge-discovery process but have a more specific goal: the construction of one-or-more domain elements with particular properties. The most common use of machine learning algorithms in this context is to predict the properties of candidate domain elements.
